Stumbled across this one - thought you might like it.

1922. xymonau1 May 2012, 11:02 GMT +02:00

Wowsers! This sidekicknessness is juss 'mazin'! I juss finisheded a bowl of Weetbix (we don't need the hextra vowel in this country) multigrain. AN' it's gettin' to be a habit!

I really don't feel like cooking at night. I think I'll cut back to two meals a day for a while. I went to a meeting yesterday and I couldn't eat the food - well, not true, I had a plate of fruit for lunch, but not a lot of it. Barely enough to stop the hunger pains. I had a small breakfast in the morning. by afternoon, I was feeling really good. A bit hungry, but lots of energy. I think that was a lesson. I'm going to simplify if i can. I have to lose some major weight anyway.

1923. happyture2 May 2012, 10:00 GMT +02:00

HaMazing isnit , well i gotta go four blood tests now and i gotta wear a blood pressure monitor for a week, so looks like they found summot wrong, i loosin weight a little at a time but its better than too fast init :O)

1924. xymonau2 May 2012, 10:55 GMT +02:00

Gee, Mike - is it just your blood pressure? Yes, weight loss by eating fresh plant foods is the least painful way. How does the monitor work?

1925. happyture4 May 2012, 10:40 GMT +02:00

put it on ya arm and press this button and it blows up an reads ya pressure, 175 over 96 81 pulse,, wonder if they'll put me to sleep :O(

1926. xymonau5 May 2012, 9:42 GMT +02:00

Cripes. No salt, no chips, no salted foods. Mine is different. It used to be around the 170 systolic, but it's now usually 135 to 150 over about 60, and my pulse is around 55 if i haven't had my tablet or 40 if I have. It has dropped as I've lost weight and cut out salt.

I hope you are okay.

1927. happyture6 May 2012, 21:52 GMT +02:00

192 OVER 101 pulse 81 think im gonna pop,, stand back Dezzie gurl this could get messy :O)

1928. xymonau7 May 2012, 2:02 GMT +02:00

1929. happyture7 May 2012, 17:34 GMT +02:00

1931. happyture8 May 2012, 7:56 GMT +02:00

Not on your nelly, my father had the same things and he popped his earthly clogs at 67 poor barstad only enjoyed 2 years of retirement and his number was called, Ive told the BIG BOSS i have too much to do yet so i hopefully i get extra time before he blows the whistle on me :O)

1932. xymonau8 May 2012, 11:40 GMT +02:00

Well, keep up your walking, and no junk food or fat. I hope they give you something just to get it down a bit. That's really dangerous.

1933. happyture9 May 2012, 3:07 GMT +02:00

I still walk, and eating a lot better food than the crap i was eating before so things should get better, its 2.00 am here i,m up with a bad head again, never mind back to doc's friday gotta give me somthing me thinks :O)

1934. xymonau9 May 2012, 13:03 GMT +02:00

I hope so. I went to the dr today. I was told by the Brisbane hospital, after I phoned to ask if an appointment had been made for me, that none of my test results had been sent to them, and they wrote to the local hospital last week requesting these tests be done so they know whether to prioritise me. I could cry with frustration. I have conferences and other things to attend, and I don't know if I should pay my money and plan to go or not. I've had all the particular tests recently, although they took blood today, but that's because I'm not feeling wonderful right now. If I was rich, I'd have had it all over and done with by now.

1935. happyture12 May 2012, 11:15 GMT +02:00

Yeah its a rotten world, everybody's health is important and we should all get the same treatment, never mind money first, if my 6 numbers come out tonight i will give you some muny promise :O)

1936. xymonau12 May 2012, 11:40 GMT +02:00

A 1947 threepenny bit don't count.

I called them again on Friday and everything has arrived and the professor or someone has looked at the stuff and I will have a response this week. Thank goodness. Not that I really want to do anything. I'll start to panic as soon as the date is set. But I will still be glad that it might be over.

1937. happyture15 May 2012, 9:52 GMT +02:00

Ha ha ha,,threepenny bit i remember those here in UKland... Im sure that you will be perfectly fine Dezzie, its just that we all tend to work ourselves up about things like this,,i know i do, but you'll be fine :O)

1938. xymonau15 May 2012, 12:14 GMT +02:00

I have an appointment to see the specialist next Wednesday in Brisbane. I'll have to drive down the day before and spend the night in a motel. They're getting more expensive by the minute. Anyway, I'm so relieved I've got to this stage. It might be okay and I won't have to have anything done. I hope so.

1939. happyture16 May 2012, 2:15 GMT +02:00

1940. xymonau21 May 2012, 10:49 GMT +02:00

I was away from Wed afternoon last week, and I did have several fatty and bad things. I used it as an excuse to indulge. And guess what? They tasted disgusting! The last two nights we could cook (that was a bit of a challenge with two hotplates and no benchspace). I couldn't wait to have some boiled veggies. My granddaughters loved the plain veggies, too. And lovely fresh fruit. I have definitely changed my tastebuds!

1941. happyture22 May 2012, 9:07 GMT +02:00

Yum yum,,veggies sound so yawn ahhhh tasty, I likes me fish n chuck meat i have to have so much meat or i get withdraw symptoms, i have a little beef now and then but i only like it with its horns n tail left on :O)

1942. xymonau27 May 2012, 8:21 GMT +02:00

I just spent five nights in Brisbane, and I have eaten so much rubbish. Lots of Chinese food, mostly, and although some was nice and healthy, some was pretty bad. I tried salt and pepper tofu - very garlicky and nice. I was eating eggs, too. That will stop now that I'm home. I had to stay in a couple of places where cooking was impossible. Brisbane needs more motels or hotels. All the rooms are taken by corporations through the week. I was forced to stay in an absolute dive for two days. It was dirty, ugly and smelled of despair and cheap soap.

1943. happyture28 May 2012, 9:32 GMT +02:00

Ha ha ha ha ha ooow ha ha ha ,,Hey now listen ere gurl, you gotta have some pleasure in life, yes eat healthy most the time but a binge now and then wont kill ya gurl, no far from it, makes you feel all happy inside, i must admit that yesterday we had a BBQ and had home made beef burgers they where to die for, i ate two and bloody enjoyed them too, So STOP feeling Guilty, Put it down to a rare treat and bloody smile when you think about it :O) ......Sorry to hear about the dwelling you stopped at we have a few here like that, thats why i stay in trust house forty most the time when travelling, Oh by the way, nice to have you back Dezzie :O)

1944. xymonau28 May 2012, 10:42 GMT +02:00

Thank you. It's very nice to be back.

What's trust house forty?

The awful place I stayed claimed to have kitchenettes. Well, if one hotplate and one small saucepan qualifies, then they did. They didn't make my bed or clean up after the first night. At about 4pm this poor old woman, skin dried out from too many ales, came up with a bunch of towels. I felt so sorry for her, I just got some new rancid towels, and told her not to worry about making the bed. The windows were thick with filth, and an old wooden blind above the sink was caked in grime. There was a microwave, which took up all the available bench space. When I decided to boil myself some veggies in the thimble sized saucepan, I had to hook the hotplate under a bathroom tap over the handbasin. It was tilted, and the saucepan kept sliding down, and the water overflowing. I have seldom had a worse time trying to cook something. At least I got some fresh food into me, and it tasted great. When I left, it felt like the great escape. There is no way in hell that I will ever willingly return to that poor excuse of a motel.

The bright orangey painted fibro walls and dark green doors were the first hint that I had made a terrible mistake. Then when I saw the Chinese-y satiny ghastly bedspreads in hideous salmon colours and the bathroom from hell, complete with its own mildew in case you missed your own, plus the tired green towels, I understood that this was to be a time of trial and personal growth.

Oh, I don't really feel guilty about the food. But I don't enjoy it as much any more, and I know some of it was greasy, which is not great for me. I'm still eating leftovers! LOL

1945. happyture28 May 2012, 15:31 GMT +02:00

Thats terrible, They should be checked by a standards officer or something like that, lets just hope there wasn't any bed bugs to bring home with you,,,Trust house is a cheap hotel like place, they have many spread all over UKland, but they are really clean and tidy, never seen a bad one :O)
