Stumbled across this one - thought you might like it.

Well...that, too...

I gotta do sumfin' to maintain my weight you know. This Junoesque physique requires fuel!

2115. happyture28 November 2012, 9:54 GMT +01:00

I tell you some think for nothing, once you is over the age of thirty it dont take much to maintain your weight does it, I would eat like a lion when i was younger and never put a pound on, yet once over thirty i only had to look at a doughnut and the weight would jump all over me :O(((

2116. xymonau28 November 2012, 11:06 GMT +01:00

I was about 35 before I really got fat. Yes, when I was young, I ate about twice as much as I eat now. # big meals a day, lots of junk food in between. I couldn't keep weight on. If I missed a night's sleep, I'd lose weight. I was so skinny my ribs stuck out. I used to think all fat people had to do is stop eating (true, but easier said than done!) and I used to wonder why they didn't. Well, the joke's on me now!

When I was really sick, I lost about 12 kilos. Since then, I've put back 19 kilos! And not stopping yet. However, this time I am eating a lot of junk and everything that's fatty and high calorie. Lollies and soft drink - which I never had except rarely - are daily things now.
And they turn straight to fat. I have to stop, but I find it really hard and my tastebuds are still not back to normal. I am starting to be able to eat some of the things I loved before, but I think the virus is still in my system.

2117. happyture28 November 2012, 12:29 GMT +01:00

Why is it ,,,everything that tastes good is really bad for you, the thing is we are what we are, we can starve ourselves silly become very irritable and feel miserable and loose weight, I basically still eat everything but in moderation, I have stopped eating chocolate as this was my downfall and whacked the pounds on as fast as hell,,,I still have fish N chips now and then but now rarely eat breakfast or Dinner now , Happiness is everything but also to live long enough to be happy is another :O)

2118. xymonau28 November 2012, 12:48 GMT +01:00

You can educate your tastebuds. I did. I just have to send them back to refresher school. We're coming up for the xmas season. That means mangoes and cherries and stonefruit and watermelons and lychees - and everything. I have to get onto the good things!

What are you doing for Christmas?

2119. happyture30 November 2012, 16:29 GMT +01:00

Turkey you gotta have a turkey for Xmas, I will eat white meat and fish, and Xmas pudding and cream or brandy sauce,,mmmmmmmm,,,Xmas :O)

2120. xymonau1 December 2012, 10:09 GMT +01:00

It's one of the hottest days of the year here, so hot meals can be a killer. Unfortunately, our British roots still have a bit of a hold, and a lot of people must have pork or turkey, and ham is mandatory. Not for me, because I have never eaten pigs. I've said this before, but when I was little, you couldn't buy chicken the way it's available today. So a lot of people would have chicken for xmas dinner. That was always what we had, and a rare treat. Usually it was one of Dad's chooks murdered for the occasion. I can still smell the feathers and guts as Mum plucked and cleaned them! Urk!

These days, I prefer some cold foods - and last year it was all vegan, as I recall. Prawns are popular here for a cold xmas lunch (I don't eat those, either! LOL). I'm not sure if I will be with family or not on the day, or whether I'm going to Brisbane or they are coming here. No-one will tell me what's going on, and I doubt that I can book a decent motel room this late. Sometimes my family annoys me. But I spoke to my grandbabies today on the phone, and it was lovely to hear their little voices. They are growing up too fast.

What's your favourite fish? I prefer barramundi, as it's sweet (freshwater), but I also like salmon.

2121. happyture2 December 2012, 2:23 GMT +01:00

I,ll eat any fish i like salmon, mackerel, cod, To be honest i would rather eat a lighter meal for xmas dinner fed up with tradition now, bowl of soup and some fresh crusty bread would do me :O)

2122. xymonau2 December 2012, 4:59 GMT +01:00

People make it into such hard work! I can't think of anything worse than slaving over a stove and waiting on a dozen people all day, hoping for a break in the afternoon. I've done that before, and it sucks. Well, it's fine if you love the people and they help out.

I'm such a hermit these days. If I didn't work, I'd never go anywhere. I believe i ought to be more sociable, but I have always been a bit shy (stop larfing!!) and I find it hard work to socialise a lot.

*sigh* I guess it comes with greatness and modesty...

2123. happyture3 December 2012, 9:26 GMT +01:00

They are all family, daughters, their boyfriends, grandchildren, mother father in laws BINGO" FULL HOUSE......as we get older it gets harder to prepare the Xmas lunch so maybe on year they will take a turn .... As for SHY" I want to know who told you that you was shy???? I know its easy tapping away here talking but face to face is a little harder, I must admit i plough straight in and are not at all shy, I am what i am like it or lump it, I speak the truth and if i can help all my friends if i can, they should be thankful you wish to share your time with them at work , But your right, Some people i know are shy/unsociable but once they got to know me they where more chatty than the others, I believe socialising is a habit and if you stop you can loose the habit which then leaves you feeling not shy but uncomfortable around people :O)

2124. xymonau3 December 2012, 10:20 GMT +01:00

That's true. I'm fine with one or small groups. I just dislike larger groups or meetings. But it's true you lose your social skills over time. I must admit I'm a bit that way these days. Never mind, this, too, shall pass.

2125. happyture3 December 2012, 13:37 GMT +01:00

Like my wind,,that passes Im never eating sprouts again,,Oooow everyone needs a government health warning pooooo!!

2126. xymonau3 December 2012, 13:49 GMT +01:00

There you go again. And sprouts don't do that to me. I love them! They're a bit expensive here at the moment, though.

Your comment about people helping reminded me of the Thanksgiving list. I found it and here's the link:

You have probably read it before, but I think it's funny. Next year, send something similar out to your family and hear the screams.

2127. happyture3 December 2012, 14:30 GMT +01:00

Ha ha yeah i,m writing one up right now .. :O)

2128. xymonau3 December 2012, 22:45 GMT +01:00

Be sure to specify the serving spoons. Can't have them thinking for themselves, can you?

2129. happyture3 December 2012, 23:17 GMT +01:00

Ha ha No, might hurt themselves :O)

2130. xymonau4 December 2012, 9:17 GMT +01:00

Well, I went to a "Christmas" lunch today with my parent company. They are located on the other side of town, but I'm included in their things. Then next Wednesday I'm taking the staff from my place out for their xmas lunch. Two free feeds. Howzat?

I went to a meeting first, at the same theatre complex where the restaurant is located. The meal was nice. I had barramundi and chips with a side salad, which I couldn't eat. Then three kinds of sorbet - that was quite yummy. It was nice to chat and catch up with people. We had a nice view of the muddy river.

My staff and I are going to a different place right down on the riverbank. It was completely submerged during the last floods, and all their furniture floated away! LOL They have nice food there. I'm not one for restaurants, but it was nice today and I hope the next one will be nice, too.

2131. happyture6 December 2012, 15:10 GMT +01:00

Barriemonday that sounds tasty, bit like our cod n chips, But i will say that food always tastes better if its free, you are lucky 2 Christmas dinners i dont know if i'll have one yet :O)

2132. xymonau7 December 2012, 9:58 GMT +01:00

Cod isn't too bad. A lot of our fish and chip shops sell flake, which is shark. It apparently tastes really nice, but I don't eat it.

Yes, I am lucky. I have so much to be grateful for.

2133. happyture10 December 2012, 7:04 GMT +01:00

Flake? over ere thats a chocolate bar thats all flakey ,,,But shark sounds good, wouldn't mind tryin shark n chips :o)

2134. xymonau10 December 2012, 9:37 GMT +01:00

Oh, we ave those kinds of Flakes, too. Don't they sell shark there? I thought sharks were everywhere.

Actually, on the weekend I went to a fish and chip shop. I was hungry and craving fish. I bought two bits of barramundi. You would have fainted at the size of them. They were as big as dinnerplates. I could only eat one, and I struggled even finishing it. Talk about value for money!

Do your fish and chipperies sell banana or pineapple fritters?

2135. happyture12 December 2012, 6:58 GMT +01:00

That sounds a real bargain, Na our chippy's are not very imaginative fish, chips, pies, pasties, curry sauce, beans, sausage, burger in batter thats about your lot, must say some are better than others :O)

2136. xymonau12 December 2012, 9:48 GMT +01:00

Burger in batter?? Do you mean just the meat pattie? We don't get beans here at ours. We do have potato scallops or potato cakes - just a slice of potato in batter. Not sure which genius thunk that up, but it's poular. The pineapple fritters are just a slice of tinned pineapple deep fried in batter and you can have sugar, cinnamon sugar or salt on 'em. My favourite way to ruin perfectly good fruit! Not everywhere has banana fritters, but they are common. Dagwood dogs - basically a battered saveloy on a stick - and chiko rolls - an Aussie icon - are also popular.

2137. happyture19 December 2012, 10:01 GMT +01:00

No,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO, Chiko Roll,,,Id call that desperation roll, it dont even look appetising, it looks like something you'd throw for the dog,,,,Also we aint that fond of fried fruit oh no,,,we will have the odd battered chocolate bar...
