Did anyone got in touch with the big blogs like Lifehacker, makeuseof, mashable, slashdot, smashing magazine, Web Developer's Handbook, wired, bla, bla bla in order to get more visitors in rgbstock?
What about SEO stuff? I search for stock images and I can't see rgbstock.com

I have us listed with StumbleUpon as I have an account with them.
@1 Hi Salva. I have been searching the SEO options using a suite of keyword tools and searching for link options.
Anyone who wants to submit our name to where they visit is doing the site a big favor. I am familiar with the blogs you you mention and they have wide distribution. There are so many of them and each have their own way of getting our name on their site.
If you could send me a complete list of those you know of, I will run each one down and get us listed.
The SEO process is extremely competitive and takes dedicated effort to win page rank. Links are good and proper keywording is even better. The results are slow in coming but we are making gains according to the analytical statistics.

I think it's important to add the RGB profile to Facebook and to Twitter (and to be active there).

I added the link to my face book on January 4.
I invited over 100 sxc members who mailed me or commented my pictures.
I'm adding the link in spanish sites.
SEO is very important here. I linked to a few pages with PR6
We are growing.

@3 Hi Cris, as far as I am concerned those blogs I mentioned above are the biggest on the internet, however, you may check out http://popurls.com/ and http://popacular.com/ as well.
For a complete list check this out... http://technorati.com/blogs/directory/technology/infotech/ , they are all there, listed by relevance. I guess targeting the web developers and tech guys would be good as a start, however you can also check the complete Technorati directory for other interesting blogs.
I absolutely agree on putting the rgbstock profile to facebook and twitter.
In the meantime I have also added a link on my facebook account, I suggest anyone reading this post to do the same, the more links the better page rank, we are currently 180 members and growing.

I sent a message to Blue Vertigo - a very popular listing site - previously, but I did it again tonight, in case they didn't receive the last email (I wasn't sure of the address, but tonight I sent it to the correct place.) When they list new sites, they put a little icon next to them to get attention. I am hopeful we will be in the next newsletter.

Our site popularity ranking at the beginning of the week was around 6.3 million.
Today the ranks shows us at 3.7 million.
PageRank is a trademark owned by Google. It is named after an algorithm developed by Larry Page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagerank
We do not have a pagerank yet as there are not enough statistics on us yet. Although, the popularity ranking index is a good indicator of how our traffic is growing. We have passed nearly 3 million other sites in a week for popularity.
We do show up as the number one search result for Google, MSN and Yahoo when the search word is rgbstock, rgbstock.com or www.rgbstock.com.
When people know our name we are now easy to find. The next goal is for people to find our name when they search for free stock photos.

I signed up with Digg and digged RGBStock. I wrote the article on it using the picture and text from the home page.

We are pecking away at the SEO details. I have submitted our site to some directories. Jay made an improvement to the meta tags on the photos. Lennie has made great gains on the function of our site search.
The members here have done a splendid job of reaching out and contacting sites, newsletters and blogs. Even the Twitter tweets are showing up in our search results. Our exposure on the internet is expanding at a pretty good clip.
Linking to other sites can be done by anyone who wants to help. The more links we have should lead to more traffic to this site.

We have discovered that taking the time to do the work of inviting your old contacts from people who requested permission to use your pictures, is the most effective way of directing user traffic to our site.
For those who have sent out invites the response has been positive and warmly appreciated by the individuals receiving the direct mailings.
I encourage everyone to take some time to send the link to our site to people you know have used your photos. You will get many replies in return thanking you for the link.

The links Dez sent in along with the combined efforts of the community made the first day in February a red banner day for new members and new visitors.

cross linking would really help a site up, banners and short articles about the site in blogs that the community users own will help increase hits and relevance. also, over a period of time, organic growth - by people using the terms "RGBstock" or "RGB stock" to come to this place. for example - i've been using this solely as a way to come to this site. at least that ways its getting hits and relevance for the search engine to know that we are a site rising fast and prominently than other single images which are tagged RGB in some other sites.

On Tuesday we had record traffic for the site. The amount of visits and the amount of visitors hit their highest levels.
Yesterday, we topped what we did on Tueday. The traffic charts are on an uphill climb for this entire week.
Yesterday our name showed up in Google Suggest for the first time. Type in rgbstock and when you get to the "t" the suggestion box will have rgbstock.com in the list.
There has been some changes to the home page that not only changes the look of the page but incorporates many improvements to SEO strategy.
Our Alexa popularity rank is climbing at over 100,000 a day. We started at over 6 million and we are down to 1.7 million already. The lower the number, the more popular we are.
Our goal is to be able to find our site when people search for free stock photos and not just searching for our name. If we can achieve this by the end of the month, we will have accomplished a remarkable feat.

yeah - organic growth. that's the real metric. after all its not news or hits that are important. if people find what they want, and some real good content - that'll be good. judging by the kind of content that's being contributed here - we have a great start!
