Always a popular thread at the other place.
I'll kick this one off.
It was my birthday the other day. I was expecting a bottle of my favourite perfume (I've been dropping hints I was running low) and woke up to a Land Rover Freelander on the drive. I've always wanted a 4x4 and now I've finally got one courtesy of my Mum and my Significant Other Half.
Okay, so it's not a new one and it's not an all singing, all dancing model, but that doesn't bother me. It's a freaking Freelander, dudes!

Mine's a white soft top like the one in the foreground.
Downside - I'll have to fund my own bottle of smellies. Oh hold on - there's Mother's Day coming up...
The new camera is on the UPS truck. Too bad we're the last area on his stop and may not get it until as late as 8pm.
I'll be sure to let you know Michal after I put it through it's paces.
The reviews I have seen show it as a solid build that should last a good long time. It is feature rich too.
I hate being jealous all the time. So why did you go and make me, Cris?! I would LOVE that camera!
A UPS truck did you say, Cris? Which one would that be? Not that I would hold it up and rob it or anything...
Love the camera (made it past the banditos)
Head and shoulders over the good old 30D.
New lens for it is on the UPS truck today. No geotag available for its location thank goodness.
When the lens meets the camera we will make beautiful music together!
That's right, rub it in...
;0)
I went to use my new phone i had just purchased March 8.
It was completely dead so i charged it. Still dead unless the charger was plugged in and then it only showed it was charged.
Frustrated now, I took it back to the store I got it from. The girl at the counter turned it on with no problem. You have to hold the button down until it comes on. I was just clicking it. Now I know how. Bless her heart.
LOL. Been there, done that, danced the red faced tango.
I found out yesterday that my new Canon 60D has a built in wireless flash trigger. It triggers my speedlight from anywhere in the room.
It also supports the use of a Canon wireless remote shutter switch (which I ordered yesterday)
i'm going to be putting up some new pictures in a flash!
(I have a pair of studio monolights too but don't tell anyone...)
You are a lucky man, Cris :)

It's a small world. I just found out one of the two winners of the Australian version of "My Kitchen Rules" is my cousin's daughter. I haven't seen them for many years, and I don't have a television, so I don't watch the show, anyway, but my sister pointed it out. So I'm celebrating possibly the only decent cook in the family! LOL
But you said your soup was delicious and nutritious.
And you believed her, Cris?
Grin
Well, not really.
Perhaps she can make some for Andrew Zimmern and see if he will eat it.
Or maybe she would prefer to have Anthony Bourdain give it a go.
I have no idea who those people are, but I'm not opening a can for them anyway. OOPS! My secret's out. Mr Heinz or his Scottish cousin, Campbell are to blame for any deaths or injuries sustained at my dinner parties. Well, except for the punch-ups...
They are travel channel hosts that travel the world sampling native cuisine.
Andrew Zimmern show is called "Bizarre Foods" and i think he would be most appropriate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Zimmern
Anthony Bourdain is quite a lot more elegant and refined but finds the best restaurants in the most out of the way locations.
I am celebrating being told I have completed my Diploma of Community Services Coordination. Even though I studied at uni for about 8 years externally, I never got a piece of paper (I kept getting sick and dropping out). At last I have completed something. It's not a degree, but it will do. I worked so hard this year. It was a two year fulltime course that we had to do part-time in 12 months. So even though I cringed at some of the assignments I handed in, I am so relieved. I may be more relieved that I don't have the burden hanging over my head any more!
I would invite you all over to celebrate, but you all live so far away. I guess I'll have to eat all the party food myself!
Congrats, Dez! Now that's what I call a reason to celebrate. I hear the rumble of the boulders over here, your relieve must feel truly exciting. I hope this Diploma will be worth all the effort you have gone through.
