Croatia will not because we didnt make to the finals. I suppose it will be between Spain, Argentina and Brasil, but I will cheer for Chile!
I don't know but we have a lot of football related downloads. Is this world cup popular in the US? In the Netherlands it is very popular.
My friend in South Africa http://www.rgbstock.com/user/bazil, has made me aware of it arriving there this year. I can not see it so I have no reason to try to watch it.
In the US there is not a tremendous amount of fans like in most countries. We don't ever expect to win.
I wanted to make a thread on it for the benefit of our members across the globe who love their team and the play offs for the World Cup.
I hope the dutch team will win! Don't think they will however. Luckily our fans are recognizable enough for the rest of the world. seems we're annoying and crazy :D
Dutch fans are fabulous!
I think Spain probable winners.
I'm looking forward to the noise in particular - should be an interesting tournament.
I think Germany stand a good chance, great team, and in it to win it!!
In my humble opinion...
1st finalist: 100% chance will be Argentina, Brazil, Germany or Italy
2nd finalist: 50% chance will be Argentina, Brazil, Germany or Italy
The Netherlands, Spain, USA (WTF?, yes USA) and England have a few chances to get to the final against one of the Top teams.
And then? Well, the final is unpredictable
Cool World cup calendar

brazil, spain, err...england ? early days with so many injuries, I guess things will change after round 1, and we'll also know how the team dynamics are.
The World Cup wasn't very interesting in this country until our ethnic tv channel - SBS - ran it over the years. Now, particularly with Australia's team improvement, it has a much larger following than just immigrants. We always played soccer (yes, SOCCER!) but it makes a difference if your team can get into the higher levels.
I don't care who wins just as long as it's over. Football is a big yawn to me...
Great link Salva - love that calendar - thanks.
Favourites are always the same, Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Italy. Other teams with possibilities are England and Netherland.
The spanish team is the best team in our history and we say that this World Cup is our opportunity to win, now or never again.
@Abyla I haven't been following it, I know Spain has one really good player, but is it just the one player or is it a real team ? Do they work well together ?
Yes, it's really a compact team, you must remember that they won the last European championship in Austria two years ago.
Holland!
I have no idea! Luckily, our sports programmers provide us with these handy guides of which teams and what players to look for.

btw: The team most likely to win according to Fox Sports is Spain. It's in this article.
Brazil will bring it home and will have the Hexa with a beatiful and happy "futebol", but today, I want to congratulate the people from South Africa for the beautiful opening ceremony a few minutes ago and for today's game I am rooting for the "Bafana, Bafana"!!! Fairplay! :)
The old quotation comes to mind,
"I'm sorry, you've mistaken me for someone who cares."
(I've cleaned that up a bit!)
One thing I'm pretty sure of - it won't be England. Our whole strategy seems to revolve around one player, and once he gets a red card .................
@14 It's team Lennie, not only one player. We can win the Championship. Germany, Italy, Brasil and Argentina are my favorites too!
@17... For some reason the shirt of those top teams (Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Italy) is much more heavier than the rest of teams. These top teams really show their potential on the World Cup, specially after the first round, they perform better and better as the tournament goes on.
It seems that winning several World cups in the past "give them wings", its like an additional responsability. The rest of teams must be extraordinary if they want to get to the final and that cannot be achived with just a good player, they must build a block, like France in 1998. In this edition Spain, The Netherlands and England are the challergers, in my opinion.
England,,,,The birth place of football/Soccer, The rest of the World, Where it was perfected????
In just a few hours the US will begin their upset win over England! This will truly be a day to remember in World Cup history!
@ cris, I'd watch the usa match with interest, the team did scare some top teams last time around!
I would love to actually watch the match but I can't see well enough to follow things that move. The ball and players keep disappearing especially going from right to left. I am confined to wait for the outcome without actually watching the match.
It would be great if the US team puts out an impressive performance in the beginning round. I'll be checking in on the coverage or listen to the TV or computer as they play.
