Job Interview

1. xymonau23 May 2010, 10:55 GMT +02:00

I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon in a town a few hours north of here. Wish me well. I've been out of work for five months, and this is the first interview I've scored in that time. Unemployment is really high here, and I work in a very narrow field (with homeless men), and jobs are disappearing rapidly. The government has all new ideas of how they will solve the problem. I disagree that they will ever solve it, but they have the money and the power.

If I don't get it, that's okay. I won't be happy, but I will move as soon as I can.

Well done Dez, You'll be great in your new job. Hope all goes well with the move.

30. fishmonk25 May 2010, 22:10 GMT +02:00

When do you start? Is it going to be a mad rush, or have you time to ease yourself back in... ?

31. Berenika25 May 2010, 23:10 GMT +02:00

oh so nice!! time to open a bottle of good wine and celebrate a little!! Wish you luck Dez!!

32. iikozen26 May 2010, 1:52 GMT +02:00

...I've phoned just about everyone I know to tell them, but my phone has gone flat, so I have to recharge it to tell the next lot.

That's why my phone didn't ring then!

Happy for you Dez! :)

33. xymonau26 May 2010, 10:32 GMT +02:00

Thanks again, guys! Dan, they have left the start date up to me as they know I have to move, but since my money has just about run out, I need to go as soon as possible. It's a bit daunting, but I'm going to look at a unit in the town on Friday, and if it looks okay, I'll try to pack up the next week, then move the following. I will allow a few days to catch my breath, but I probably won't have enough money to connect to the net there until I get paid! So you'll all have to be really good while I'm gone. Don't make me get out the pointy stick!

Patrycja, don't drink it all at once. Manoel - is that you? You're very dashing! I phoned you, but you have that darn answering machine, and I can't speak Portuguese! ;o)

36. jimdaly9828 May 2010, 18:20 GMT +02:00

Well done, Dez. The very best of luck in your new job.

Incidentally, does it involve soup?

37. xymonau29 May 2010, 19:12 GMT +02:00

Thank you so much, Jim. Yes, my entire life is soup-based. But they don't know it yet. When they do, it will be too late.

38. xymonau15 June 2010, 15:42 GMT +02:00

Moving in two days and I will be off the air for a week or so - unless there is an internet cafe somewhere. Please keep the place tidy while I'm away. :o)

39. Zela15 June 2010, 17:25 GMT +02:00

44. krayker16 June 2010, 11:32 GMT +02:00

45. iikozen16 June 2010, 19:22 GMT +02:00

Have a pleasant and safe move Dez.
We'll be here waiting to hear the good news as soon as you start unpacking.

:)

46. xymonau23 June 2010, 7:16 GMT +02:00

It was safe, and parts were pleasant. Still to finish the paperwork, etc on the old place, and then I can rest a bit - until Monday, when I start work.

This place looks like a bomb hit it and I can't find anything. After the initial fussy packing, we got to the stage of throwing everything in boxes as we found them. I have too many things. None are valuable, so I am going to cull it all drastcally here. Just as soon as I can move my muscles without wincing! LOL My animals hate me - they have no freedom here - but it is a nice place and I hope in time I will be happy here. Currently have the neighbours from hell, but that's another story. No time to make soup. Will hot chocolate do?

47. krayker27 June 2010, 13:11 GMT +02:00

hey nice to know you are settling down at your new place.

I can't think without chuckling, when I presume how or what your neighbors are thinking: "there's this lady next door, she's moved in a huge kettle, with strange ingredients too, we keep hearing a lot of cusses too, and she speaks to strange people red green and blue :P "

48. xymonau27 June 2010, 14:00 GMT +02:00

If anyone ever deserved my soup, they do!

49. crisderaud27 June 2010, 15:51 GMT +02:00

@47 One day she will ask to borrow a cup of eye of newt and that will tip them off to what she is up to!
