Well, it had to be done, didn't it? And since this is both the first and last post, I have won. Thank you all.
Those aren't scones. They're rocks from the yard. I realise it's not easy to tell the difference. You swallowed one. It's just a matter of time now and we can call the ambulance.
No, no. That was one of the Prize's rock cakes. Perfectly edible. I think.
I'll give you a clue. His mudcake is made of mud.
Ah yes, you must mean the so-called Mississippi Mud Pie. Delicious!
Wot, no soup?
They don't care about my soup, Lynne. They just want to take my prize. But what else would you expect from mud pie eaters? I'm glad to see you here. We kept your place warm.
Hi Lynne!
Hi Kevin! :D
Mud pies are so passe. They should be eating clay pasties.
Really? I've always preferred pannacotta to terracotta.
Can't beat pannacakes. Especially today. Yum.
I'll have a Panna-dol, thanks. All this talk of food is making me hungry. Terracotta - mmmm!
here's something to really get your teeth into - not that you'd keep them for long.
Graniteola.
Probably tastes marginally better than Gorgonzola.
I've had a rather eclectic mix of foods today. A big tub of rockmelon (cantaloupe) with banana and blueberries. Then a fridge emptying toss it all in Chinese stir fry, with leftover meat AND vegetarian stuff, plus veges and rice, and more sauces than you could tell. I think the salt content was probably illegal. And I have three quarters of a pan left. Then I finished off with kalamata olives and crackers. But I swear someone accidentally put some coriander in the oil (it was deli olives, and they make all kinds of salads as well). It left this nauseating taste and as always when I eat the stuff, I get a familiar really bad taste in my mouth and it takes me ages to work out what the problem is. When I twigged, I was relieved I hadn't been poisoned. Disgusting plant. I have never eaten gorgonzola, and I have no desire to start.
Since it is a foregone conclusion that I'm the winner here, I'm happy to while away the hours chatting.
And who told you I have teeth?
Well, I didn't think that big smile was falsies! And I hate coriander too.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend! We must share the same genes.
That big smile was 34 years ago. While it's true that I still have most of my teeth, if you lot are the cooks, it might not be for much longer.
When I was in Thailand many years ago I went to a restaurant where they served, amongst other things, mashed giant bug. I emphatically did NOT have any, but I couldn't help noticing how similar the smell of it was to the smell of coriander. I rest my case.
I plump for the food of the gods every time
chocolate
Failing that I like cheese.
No, no. It's tinned rice pudding. It must be - it's called Ambrosia.
I've gone a bit fruit mad in my dotage. Any berries, cherries, mango, nectarines, kiwi fruit, passionfruit, even bananas - and lots of them. I used to love these after dinner mints that Aldi sold here. They had no milk, and tasted wonderful. Satisfied the chocolate craving. But the no longer stock them, and I find it disappointing. I used to love rice pudding years ago, and triple brie was my indulgence. Those days are gone, although I can make a delicious rice pudding with vanilla soy milk. I just can't be bothered as the heat is killing me. Maybe in winter.
Re the insects, yes, I draw the line at that - regardless of the smell or taste.
Rice pudding made with full cream milk, a knob of butter and flavoured with cinnamon or nutmeg. My other half prefers it plain with a dollop of strewed apple. Borrrrrrring.
Not an insect to be had. Nor any seabirds served on sticks.
Where did the seabirds on sticks come from? I like cinnamon and nutmeg on bread and butter pudding. I haven't had one in ages. I don't use eggs - and thinking of it is making me hungry!
Do you like Chinese food, Lynne?
Stormy Petrel on a Stick has to be equally as gross as cockroach cluster or witchetty grub bonbons.
Yep, I like Chinese food but only if I can watch it being prepared. Sadly my favourite Chinese restaurant had recently been demolished. I now have to travel further to where it's been relocated.
We have only a few choices in the nearby town, although there are a lot more in the next town. I love Chinese - minus the oyster sauce.
The son of a friend married an girl from Malaysia or Thailand - can't remember. The wedding was held there, and he travelled to it. They were passing round huge bowls of insects, he said, and he didn't care if he was regarded as impolite by refusing.
I can't tell you how long it has been since I ate fish and chips, but I bought some yesterday - barramundi (very sweet flavour) and the minimum of chips, and sat in a car park and devoured half. I hadn't eaten all day and was starving. It tasted wonderful, but there were too many tiny bones in parts of the fish. I'm sure I clogged my arteries for the week.
I believe the prize is made of chocolate, so I've put it somewhere safe.
There's an excellent chippy in my village. His chips are nice and crispy and his fish thick and succulent with crispy batter.
Yum.
There's a prize made out of chocolate?
Gimme!!!!!
