...the milestone is pretty close by. I've never expected this to be this fast!
...was an incredibly fast journey so far.

Now I couldn't resist posting this here:

How to give a cat a pill

Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right fore-finger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden.

Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down the straw.

Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Throw Tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

Ring fire brigade to retrieve cat from tree across road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.
Take last pill from foil wrap. Tie cat's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour two pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and remove pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

Arrange for RSPCA to collect cat and ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

(An oldie, but I laugh every time I read it.)

@98:ROFL, Thanks, Dez, this is really a goodie.
@97: I agree, Patrycja, our cats would never again talk to us when we would try to force them to swallow a pill against their will. But this wouldn't matter anyway because we would not survive such an attempt.

@98 Fantastic!!! that's the truth!!

101. krayker10 June 2010, 12:54 GMT +02:00

Nice one Dez, I suppose you have another one for the dog ? :)

102. crisderaud10 June 2010, 14:28 GMT +02:00

Cats can be such a pill!

103. jazza10 June 2010, 21:26 GMT +02:00

@98 what is so funny about this story? It is the truth. I managed to come to this point : "Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat " Then we gave up.

@93 my cats are to ugly for free stock photos. If you really want to see them, look at my Flickr account.

104. Berenika10 June 2010, 21:47 GMT +02:00

@103 Jay!!! your cats are beatiful - on this world exist two kind of cats - cats which are just cats, and cats which are professsional cats - yours are from this second kind - hypnotic eyes, look "I'm the king there" - it's perfect!!!
Cleopatra under blanket is my type for a stock photo... Give them a chance to be famous :-)

105. jazza10 June 2010, 21:58 GMT +02:00

Thank you Patrycja. "professional cats" :) Love that.

Still working on the perfect cat-stock photo.

I like this one : http://bit.ly/bRaql0
The poor thing was so ill at that moment, but he luckily recovered and he is doing fine now.

Is the black and white cat in your gallery yours?

106. Berenika10 June 2010, 22:40 GMT +02:00

@105
no, that is a street cat from Bergen - I have to upload pictures of my cats on facebook - I'm generally together with them on photos, so this not a stock photography - but I promise I will.. one of the photos of my cats was rejected from rgb - so I'm also working with a quality in this matter. There is photo of my cat -
http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=view&id=790345
it was photo for comepetition - in my desk drawer...

107. jazza10 June 2010, 23:23 GMT +02:00

The RGB admins don't like cats. They are more 'wolf' types. I remember the competition, that was fun. Like your cat!

108. xymonau11 June 2010, 5:19 GMT +02:00

I love the one in the drawer! Your other cat has the same shaped features as a cat that belongs to a friend of mine. Colour him orange, and he would be identical. Very noble looking.

Kray - there is only one instruction for giving a pill to a dog:
Wrap pill in bacon. :o)
